What do you guys know about this college? I've heard good things about it for pre-law, and it also seems to have slightly-affordable tuition, compared to other LAC's. Also, I can't find much information on admission? Any chance for a 3.1, 27 ACT from out-of-state?

Thanks guys :)

Hendrix is a nice, small (1000) liberal arts college. Although it's located in Arkansas, it's student body is very liberal and tolerant - I've heard it compared to Grinnell or Oberlin in terms of the type of student that goes there. Good academics and good pre-law program (they have sent graduates to Harvard, Yale, etc. in the past) and a surprisingly good science/pre-med program for such a small school. Nice school-directed internship program in Washington D.C. and study abroad programs for students. All of their teachers have phd's and only teach undergrads - there are no teaching assistants and the average class ize is 15 students so you get lots of personal attention. Beautiful residential campus - all students are required to live on campus all 4 years unless they are married. Hendrix would be a match for you = they have been trying to boost out of state admissions (currently about 70% of students are from Arkansas). Their financial aid is said to be decent and they do offer some merit scholarships. They get about 1100 applicants a year and accept about 75% of applicants, average SATs: V 570-690, M 550-650, ACT: 25-31, 73% of students are in top quarter of their graduating class, average HS GPA is 3.7. You're definitely in their ball park, even with your GPA.

Thanks a bunch. On their website I read that they have rolling admissions. I think I'll wait and see what I get on my next ACT and the SAT to apply. Is anyone else planning on applying here?

I went and visited, loved it. Kind of rustic, old wooden and red brick buildings. Great class sizes, laid-back atmosphere, just overall really excellent. Definitely applying in the next month!

Plus, the women in Arkansas have the cutest southern accents. I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff.

What is it like not having fraternities/sororities? Is there still a lot of student interaction? And is the campus really secluded, to where most students stay there on weekends and stuff, or do a lot of them head up to Little Rock? I'm just trying to figure out how hard it would be to find people to spend time with when there is no Greek system. Thank you guys for your help. :)

Actually, in my experience schools that DON'T have huge fraternity/sorority systems tend to be a bit more inclusive than those that do so it's easier to find different groups of varied people to hang out with. Hendrix is a small school where nearly everyone lives on campus so I expect it would be relatively easy to find people to spend time with. If I recall correctly, the county Hendrix is in is a "dry" county so alot of the partying takes place on campus. However, I don't know how much of a rip-roaring "party" school it is compared to frat-oriented schools.
