Hi. Are there any math majors or minors on this board? If you are one, when did you decide you wanted to study math? How was college math compared to high school? What kind of jobs are available to graduates with B.S. or M.S. degrees in mathematics?
Thank you,
Mike N.

well, it's a slightly harder strech, but you are definitely offered the same opportunities as any CS, engineer, or hard science major. It will just take some more convincing that you have the required skills.
College math is much much more thinking and creative, not just memorizing steps and rules (at least for me it seems that way).
I'm not a math major, but I am in college and I have math friends. But if you like pure math, it will be tough finding a "regular" job. You're going to have to get some "applied" math action.

This link has lots of information on careers in math: http://www.coolmath.com/frm_careers.htm
I have several friends who majored in math and found they were in demand for various government research jobs after they graduated. Good luck.
