Hello. i want to know how I can get a job at a good university in the physical science department. My fav. subjects are chem and physics and I don't really want to do anything in any other subjects.
It would be great if you tell me what qualifications were needed and which graduate degrees are important.

Thanks in advance........

If you have a PhD or are working towards one you can get a job as a researcher. If you are smart and a good teacher you can get a job as a professor. Being a professor pays pretty well, but its hard to become one, you need a good reputation. Being a researcher does not pay well at all in monetary terms. It may be fullfilling, but you won't be rich.

A friend has a Ph.d in chemical physics from harvard and is head of his own research group at a major university where he has post docs and other students working for him with his research. He doesn't do too bad financially as he has several fellowships and grants funding his work, but the rest in his group live like grad students.
Keep in mind it is pretty competive to get a job as a professor even as a adjunct or asst. Don't let that discourage you but be ready to get a job elsewhere if the opportunity presents itself
