Hey folks, I`m seriously considering transferring to Syracuse University next year. I`ll be majoring in journalism and minoring in geology. I`ve heard a lot of good stuff about the university and it looks like they have awesome journalism and geology programs, but the full cost is going to be around 35 grand a year and I`m just wondering if it`s worth that much to go there. I mean I`m sure its a great school but that sounds like a lot of money...somebody give me some assurance here...anyone got any comments about Syracuse?

I also transferred to Syracuse for journalism in my junior year (many years ago). It was a decision I've never regretted. They gave me a very good financial aid package and merit scholarship so the cost wasn't much more than my old (public) school. It was worth every dime in terms of gaining the skills needed to work in business and journalism. Throughout my career, I've also found that potential employers are very familiar with the Syracuse reputation for its excellent journalism programs so it's definitely paid off over the years. One tip: if you do go, take full advantage of any and all internship opportunities and use the Newhouse placement office to make connections with alumni. Hope this helps---

Carolyn, I have made a last minute descion to apply to Newhouse for advertisting.. Just how good is their advertising program really? and how muhc harder is it to get into than the CAS.. my stats are already above whats expected for CAS (3.9, 1350 ect.) but I am curious to know how hard Newhouse actually is to get into.

thanks
