I know, I know. All three at once sounds a little crazy. But I am just curious if there exists one university out there that excels at all of them. I am interested in all of these things. I want to go to Berkeley. This seems like a good school for these subjects, based on my SAT scores and the like. How does Berkeley rank for psychology and astrophysics? I know that it ranks as one of the top for mathematics. If anyone can tell me, or can suggest some good schools (I'm financially limited, too :-|) I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!!!

Berkeley is good for both --- a safer bet in the UC system is UC Santa Cruz - they have a nationally ranked astrophysics department and good psychology programs. The University of Washington, the University of Wisc.-Madison, the University of Wyoming, and Arizona State would be other good choices for your interests. As far as private schools go, Carleton in Minnesota and Whitman in Washington State would both be worth looking at, depending on your Stats. Other possibilities: Boston U, University of Chicago.

Santa Cruz has one of the best astrophysics programs on the west coast, which is why ill probably end up going there. If i dont get into berkeley, i know im gonna end up going to santa cruz. Ive heard its really beatiful from some friends. Others told me they were "Overwhelmed by the gay population" which might be good or bad for you (hell, i dont know who you are). I plan on visiting within the next few weeks so ill just post in this thread again when i come back.
Hope this helps,
culov

UC Santa Barbara is one of the top physics depts in the country. I don't know specifically about astrophyics there.

Actually, two of my closest friends are professors of astrophysics at UCSC. They were both lured away from Princeton by UCSC. They've been very happy with the attention and funding the astrophysics department gets at UCSC and report good things. Of course, make sure you visit before you make your final decision.

UPDATE:
-Just got back from Berkeley/Santa Cruz, and i hated santa cruz. I can easily see how it can be called the most beatiful campus, but its definately not my type of school. Its basically all in the woods. While i was walking along the campus, i walked 3 feet from 4 deers. I dont know where you are from, but for me, coming from southern california, thats something that i am not accustomed to. What made me hate the school was the feeling of isolation that i got, and the mold thats all over the place (im allergic). Pretty much everyone was walking alone, and the social scene seemed like crap.
On the other hand, the libraries were outstanding, from the outside, the dorms looked good, and the people were really nice. Definately visit Santa Cruz because youll either love it or hate it.

Culovv - Very good advice about UCSC (or any school for that matter). What did you think of UCB?

I was torn between that and business (iam only a sophomore in highschool so i have plenty of time to choose) going to a place like wharton i know you can make baaank.
