Nothing is impossible. I think your list looks pretty good and good luck

I don't think you should consider Occidental a safety - average SATs for last year's accepted student was 1350 and they only accepted something like 35% of students who applied --- they had a record year for admissions and expect the same this year. To be honest, I wouldn't count UC Davis as a safety this year either.

wow wayyyy too many schools.
try cutting it down...
| By Calidan (Calidan) on Monday, October 13, 2003 - 11:29 pm: Edit |
do you have any idea on what i could cut out? something that doesn't fit? b/c i like all these schools and i have NO IDEA what to eliminate!

I'd cut out a few of your reaches. Choose either UVA or William & Mary but not both. And, if you want to major in Business, I'm not sure Occidental would be the right school. They don't really have a business school, so I'd drop Occidental in favor of someplace like Santa Clara.
And, you might give some thought to whether you want a large, urban school like BU or a smaller liberal arts focused suburban school like Boston College and drop one of the two. I still think you need an absolute safety as a back up - perhaps University of San Diego, University of the Pacific, University of Redlands or UCRiverside.

thanks, carolyn. ill take that into consideration. i am going to drop occidental, it really isn't the kind of place i can see myself in the future.
anyone else?

It might be a good idea to try to visit them and see if you can narrow it down from there. Some of your schools seem very close to each other so you could visit a couple in a few days, perhaps.

I think you need a safety or two more...and I agree with Carolyn's advice for whittling the list down overall. Many of your matches (NYU, UCSB, BC, CMcK) seem more like reaches to me. What about Santa Cruz, Pitzer as safeties? Unfortunately I'm not informed enough to know if they are strong in business...

Neither UCSC or Pitzer have business programs.
