D #1 is a happy freshman at Colgate. D #2 wants to run her own bakery business. She plans to study culinary arts in Paris after college. I suggested a business undergrad or possibly hotel management. What do you think are good undergrad majors for future entrepreneurs? How about business depts? Her dream school is Columbia because she loves New York City. Thanks.

Not sure what you're sugesting... transferring to Columbia or going there for a graduate business degree. And when you say a "bakery business", are you taking about a cozy little place on the corner or a highly-capitalized BUSINESS?
If it's the small cozy variety, getting a BA at Colgate or wherever will certainly make her a well-educated person, but as a practical matter she'd be better off combining her culinary arts degree with practical business courses at a good community college.

Sorry for the confusion. My first daughter is out the door and happy. Now my second daughter is looking into schools. She is very different from the first who was very science and math oriented. She is more interested in the arts and wants to run a business someday. At this point she likes the idea of a bakery, but possibly something on a larger scale. I am familier with the science schools but not so with the business programs for undergrad which I think would be the direction to guide her.

I don't know anything about it personally, but Babson in MA is supposed to be top notch for entrepreneurs - it's expensive and I don't know about finaid there.
