I made a list of schools I wanted to apply to. I did not put much thought into it. It was basically a list of schools that caught my attention. There were eight schools on my list. I was trying to cut down on schools, so i talked to my counselor. She gave me a list of 21 schools to apply to (but I eliminated 6 right off the bat), and I am sure she had better reasons for suggesting them than I had for mine (which she included in the list). So I decided to cut down the number of schools by seeing which are best for my majors, except I really don't know where to find that information. SO, which of the following schools are best for communications and chemistry:
upenn
northwestern
university of chicago
cornell
johns hopkins
brown
georgetown
ucsd
ucla
cal
harvard
pomona
stanford
columbia
amherst

thank you thank you thank you

Cal=Chemistry Cal= substandard communications

I think your counselor focused more on the "chemistry" than on "communications" or journalism. Northwestern has an excellent communication/journalism program. UCLA, UPenn and Stanford do have communications programs (although I believe UPenn's is focused on political communications). All of the other schools on the list either do not have communications programs or at least do not have communications programs that are well-known in the industry. (Columbia's journalism school is only a graduate program by the way).

My suggestions: take a look at Syracuse, BU, USC.

Not sure about communications, but Stanford and Cal's chemistry departments are truly outstanding.

Heh. TheMom got a double major Journalism/English at Mizzou and has done quite well with it.

Sorry Gigglz, can't compare Mizzou to Medill...
