Can I apply to Upenn, MIT (many choice EA), and Uchicago (many choice EA) all early?

UPenn only has binding Early Decision, not early action. Their guidelines clearly state that ED is for students whose first choice is Penn and that students may not apply ED to any other schools at the same time. If you apply to Penn ED and are accepted in December you are committed to go there unless you can prove that the financial aid offered is not suitable. I would email or call their admissions office to ask about simultaneous EA applications to other schools.

MIT and U Chicago have non-binding early action. You could, therefore, apply to all three early but if you are accepted to all three you will be committed to going to Penn and will be expected to withdraw your applications elsewhere.

Carolyn,

thanks for the reply. UPenn is indeed a ED binding school, but MIT and UC aren't. But there are some EA and ED schools that do not want you to apply to any other schools (including EA) if you apply there early.

Today is Sunday so the office is closed. Anyone called in before and asked the same question?

im pretty sure you could apply ed to penn and ea to anther schoo...however the ea school might not want to u to apply to an ed programi.e georgetown and i think even uchicago..
