Both of these schools are very good matches for me from what I see. Could someone tell me some similarities and differences between the schools (differences mainly)? How about location? I like Wisconsin better because of its location in Madison... from what I hear a very nice city to live in. Ann Arbor is basically a university town, or so I've heard. However, I'm open to all comments. Just try not to bash one school if you're biased
.
Oh... I want to major in biology and also study music (vocal performance), but not major.

Two excellent schools similar in size and having very nice campuses. Wisconsin is easier to get into from out-of-state; and Michigan is actually difficult to get into from out-of-state. Also, Wisconsin's out-of-state tuition is about $6,000 less per year than Michigan (about $18,000 versus $24,000). Ann Arbor is a college town but it is a very good college town with lots for students. Madison is a nice "city" but a fairly small city and almost like a college town. There is not a wrong choice although my personal preference would be Wisconsin. Know grads from both and none could say anything bad about the college experience. Biggest complaint they have for both: it gets cold, real cold, bone-chilling cold in the winter.

Thanks Drusba! Anyone have anything more to add? Michigan seems to be more popular (or maybe I have personally heard more about it). Wisconsin's wonderful too, I hear. I'm wondering about diversity too. I'm of asian descent (Indian, to be exact) and I want a school that's fairly diverse. This doesn't mean a lot of Indians!!! Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, Whites... I want a pretty good blend... I tend to befriend many types of people. I heard Wisconsin wasn't so diverse, which is a downside, but I don't know the validity of this information.
Oh, and yes, cold is right! I have lived in New Jersey all my life so I'm not a complete alien to the cold (this past winter was especially brutal)... so I guess I could handle even colder, or let's hope so. :þ

UW isn't as diverse.
But the people are friendly so white black purple green, it won't matter.
I cannot verify the friendlyness of UM students, tho. I hear there is a lot of segregation between whites and blacks there
