Hi guys!

I have a 4.79 GPA (weighted), straight A's (except in math, and first semester English this year)
All honors and AP courses, except standard math freshman year (math is my weakness),

My class rank is 19 out of 295 (beginning of Junior year)

I’m a Indian female from a competitive northeast high school

My extracurriculars include:
*Peer tutor
*National Honor Society
*Vice president of Best Buddies (volunteer with mentally challenged students at my school)
*volunteer at local Veterinary Clinic
*Flute in School Orchestra for four years
*Ski Team freshman and sophomore year
*job: babysitter, 5th grade math tutor

Unfortuately, I don’t standardized test well at all
SAT Math-650
SAT verbal- 550
SAT Chem - 650
SAT Math IC- 560
Writing- 550
AP Chem - 4

Class schedule for next yr:
Ap bio, AP English, AP Spanish, AP Psychology, honors Physics, and honors pre-calc

I am thinking of double majoring biology and chemistry, and I’ve always wanted to be a veterinarian. My dream school is Cornell, but I know I don’t have a chance with my low test scores. I’m also looking at BC, Bowdoin, Colby, Mt. Holyoke, Wellesley, Union and a few others. What are my chances at these schools, and what kind of schools do you think would be in my range? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your SATs are still low for BC, Bowdoin, Colby. Bowdoin, in particular, has become more competitive each year. You might look at Bates, which I believe has an option where you don't have to submit SATs and they just consider you on the strength of your high school grades. Union and Mt. Holyoke are possibilities. Wellesley is a reach.

I thought Bowdoin did not require SATs. Am I wrong?

I was in that same situation my senior year. I wanted to go to Cornell too. and my sats are worse than yours. I EDed, deferred, then transfer optioned (that's rejection but later admission). Our grades are just about the same i figure ( i dunno what 4.79 realli means compared with a 96, 97)

I think u'r SAt verbal and maht are fine, your 2s can be improved.

I heard that Wellesley is just as much work as Cornell (I doubt it tho). It's just not as known cuz it's small. But big companies and stuff know what Wellesley is. You should research into it more. BUT, i am biased, cuz i'm goin there this fall ! But still looked it up. If you want info, i posted on the wellesley post in "individual Schools."

If you're doin medical, goin to boston is great too. Some1 on another post called it "medical Mecca"

boston college med program? is it? that's difficult..

union and drew..other med options..

also, altho i have that transfer option for sophormore/junior year (meaning i can be an automatic transfer, with the correct amount of credits), I'm quite happy that I didn't get into Cornell. I realized that there were a lot of other schools I didn't look at. Now I feel like I can't see myself in any other college but Wellesley. But let's hope that wont' change once i get there. but it's ok, cuz i have the cornell back up.

But every1 is different. You actually know what you want to do. I change my mind every couple hours. Literally. Yesterday I went from majoring in music, to arch. , to business-real estate and now back to arch.
