Hi,
My name is Erik and I recently graduated from the University of Washington a year ago or so. I have been working for a bi-weekly campus paper for quite some time but I am not sure if I have enough journalistic background to actually find newspaper jobs. Anyway, I've been looking at either getting another undergraduate degree in journalism or maybe a Master's, but I don't want to pay too much. Can anyone recommend decent journalism programs in Washington state that won't drain my life savings (if I had any)? So far Western Washington Univ. looks the best to me. Washington State Univ. looks like it might be good as well. Any opinions? What about Master's programs? What about Eastern Washington Univ.? Thanks a lot.

I don't know if a journalism major is really the way to go. Is the newspaper field perhaps one that you just have to get out there?
A family friend just graduated from Reed college in psychology, but had been writing for the school paper and has a job with the AP wire service.
I would go out and try and get an apprenticeship/low level newpaper job, before you start worrying about grad school
alternatively, a former neighbor was a Reed graduate, and attended the UW for grad school in journalism. ( he taught at the same time making his tuition virtually free)
