I would like some help finding the best undergraduate programs in both pure and applied math. Also, I'd like to know which ones have the best grad school placement.

Harvard/MIT and Princeton. Equally good.

Reed, Carleton, Harvey Mudd and Cal Tech are also among the schools listed by the U.S. department of education as sending on large percentages of students to math phd programs.

UC Berkeley and Princeton are tops in math...don't let anyone tell you different. Both have outstanding professors and top notch graduate students (all of which rubs off on motivated undergrads ready to soak up all the wisdom they have to offer!). Harvard and MIT are right up there too.
