I was just wondering if anyone knew how good a school Boston University is. I'm thinking of applying, and just wanted to have some opinions. Thanks in advance.

It looked good when I checked it out. It's my top choise. I was really impressed with the college of fine arts.

What are generally the stats of the average admitted student?

Watch out about BU- huge turnover rate of both prof's and students, especially now that Silber's in charge again. Also, it has a very conservative administration for a school that's located in Boston. The profiles of students accepted varies hugely depended on what department they're in. For instance, the accelerated med program is next to impossible to be accepted at, whereas the College of General Studies has fairly low average SAT's among its students.

Elazar: You said you were really impressed with BU's college of fine arts. Do you know alot about it? What were you most impressed with? I'm considering BU for college specifically to study vocal preformance. Can you share your thoughts on that program or the fine arts school in general?
Thanks a bunch,
Lisa

The college of fine arts programs uses a traditional style of teaching rather than contenporary. The students seemed to have a passion for art. This is very important because without that, the students lack individuality in their artwork. There is only so much that any school could offer. With an atmisphere that stresses passion, and technical skills first, then the students can make it anyware in the arts.
When it comes to the world of art, employers don't really care where you went to school if your skills are good.
