Expecting excellent recs and already drafting my college essay, which is coming along very well
Do I stand at chance at Harvard? If not, which colleges or universities are within my league? I'm hoping to get into an Ivy League. Any advice and comment on my blunders throughout my high school career would be most graciously appreciated.

haha no i'm sorry, you're not tall enough for harvard... sorry, why did you ask again if you'll get into harvard? i think you'll have to look at those scores again, they're only perfect across the board

No one is a National Merit Scholar yet. They haven't even announced the semifinalists.

lol when you're an imaginary person you can be!

and isn't the computer science ap in C++, only the year 2003-2004 are they giving the CS ap in java....

I take offense to your comments. I truly worked very hard during my three (3) years in high school thus far and you are mocking me for that! For your information, needingananswer, my school did administer the AP Java Exam as they do offer AP Java Programming. And as for the national merit scholar, I assume that I will be a national merit scholar as I did obtain a perfect score on my PSAT's. I assume your comments are prompted by good old fashioned jealousy, so I don't blame you.

Dude. Either you're lying or you SERIOUSLY have no life.
Either way I pity you.

I said MY school administered the AP Java exam, not the college board, and they scored it themselves ACCORDING TO the college board's scale. Though it may not be the official ETS Java Exam, I still scored a 5 regardless thereof.
By Needingananswer (Needingananswer) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 10:33 pm: Edit
yes yes, i do suppose you've worked very, in fact extremely, hard during your 3 years in high school, worked hard at becoming a compulsive liar....
By Cheezeit08 (Cheezeit08) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 10:37 pm: Edit
Just because I have better stats than you'll ever have does not mean that I'm a liar. Many people have similar stats. Just read some other threads and see for yourself. It's actually not that unbelievable, for I have seen better.

It's a joke. You can tell by this:

sorry you cant just score a perfect score on your psat and become a national merit scholar... you have to write essays and so forth before you can even try to become a nms.

haha well dont forget to add your blood type as well when you're filling out your height and weight

I looked, and I agree that AP Java doesn't exist through the College Board. As needingananswer said, CB is switching to Java from C++ in '03-'04.
Given that information, I wonder if the OP is a troll. Anyone with common sense (and hopefully anyone capable of achieving the scores) would know that perfect test scores and good ECs give one "a chance" at Harvard. Assuming the OP is real, I pray that H takes him so he doesn't end up where I'm going.

"intern at sisco"
Hehe. Too bad "he" never looked at the name of the company on the building to see how it's spelled.
By Cheezeit08 (Cheezeit08) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 10:57 pm: Edit
It was a typo, for I was hastily typing my stats since I was in a rush. At the time I had the Thong Song stuck in my head as well. One lousy typo and you're suddenly the biggest compulsive liar (according to Needingananswer)!

The AP exam scale is on a 1-5 scale, 071394658. How you like to bring people down and make them feel bad about themselves! What nerve!
By Needingananswer (Needingananswer) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 11:06 pm: Edit
aww what nerve? you're the one who is writing a complete fabrication... you say you took the AP Java exam which isn't true because there was no such exam yet... we're just commenting on your "blunders", just trying to help you out....
By Cheezeit08 (Cheezeit08) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 11:10 pm: Edit
I already explained that MY SCHOOL did administer the test, THEIR OWN VERSION. SO TECHNICALLY, IT'S NOT A LIE because they score it the exam same way the CB does (like every other AP exam)!
By Needingananswer (Needingananswer) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 11:12 pm: Edit
how does CB do it huh? if they haven't even written that exam what can they compare it to? its not an AP exam then...

"PWNED!"
"So STFU n00b."
"gg"
"nextmap"
"The next map will be: de_aztec"
0713, please tell me you're a CS'er
"I already explained that MY SCHOOL did administer the test, THEIR OWN VERSION"
This would mean that it's not an AP at all. It's a Podunk High test graded on a 1-5 scale. And it would also mean that Harvard doesn't care about it, whatever it is.
By Ak_Theanswer (Ak_Theanswer) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 11:50 pm: Edit
This OP obviously just wants to hear people congratulate and applaude his high stats. Why else would a person have to type all of that, knowing that most of those stats are better than almost anyone's on here? He's probably just insecure, and wants people to go "Wow! your a shoo-in". Just my opinion.

to cheeze: would you like to screen capture your collegeboard scores page and post it up somewhere?
this one won't be easy to fabricate as you have what...10 SAT I and IIs that need to show up on the page.
so if you really wish to insist that you are for real, please do that =)
P.S. Oh my LORD shouldn't you be taking ALL those APs at the honors level? How could you POSSIBLY let us down by not taking them at that level?
P.P.S. did you have fun being treasurer for four years starting right from your freshman year at HS?
By Aparent (Aparent) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 08:40 am: Edit
To the OP, as the parent of a National Merit Scholar I can tell you that you don't get the award based on your PSAT score. That score gets you into the running, and then your essay, recommendations, and the rest of your hs record are what determine the final decision.
By Mythspinner (Mythspinner) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 03:07 pm: Edit
ha ha ha. Though I strongly suspect that the person who started this thread is an adept liar (AP Java, National Merit Scholar, and etc). I applaud you if you're for real, got straight 800s, and are just being pompous about the Merit Scholar business since it hasn't come out yet. Your determination would = amazing.
Your school's "own version", eh?
Where I come from, that's called some bs.
*cringes* if you're for real (which I still doubt) don't yell at me.

the scores aren't unbelieveable, probably 50 kids in the country with all perfect numbers and lots of them, but it seems he has made several..."blunders" in his description and is now backtracking rapidly. Proof of some kind would be nice.
By Richen (Richen) on Monday, July 07, 2003 - 04:15 am: Edit
I don't see why he has to prove it to anyone. The main reason I think people are upset at his posting is that with these stats, why even "ask" whether he's good enough for any school, including Harvard? Obviously, it seems to us all, he's only interested in broadcasting his accomplishments, or must be a liar of sorts. Either way, it does not seem to warrant a response of any kind from anyone, including myself! HAHA
