someone from my school is going to dvc with a 1350 sat.

Was his GPA under 3.0?? Cause I know a few people at DLS who have 2.5's and they got 1200 and 1300's on their SAT.

He had a 3.2 GPA, he had no e.c's or anything - I guess he got accepted at UCSB, but chose to go to DVC, cause it was free..

Still UCSB is still a pretty good school and its not that expensive either. Maybe he wants to transfer Berkeley. I dunno.

half the kids at my school go to dvc...:-\

By Spartan858585 (Spartan858585) on Monday, July 07, 2003 - 07:22 pm: Edit

Ya I checked out where some our seniors are going and at least 20 are going to DVC. But we have a 100% college rate. So all of the academically challenged kids at DLS go to DVC.

It is strikingly similiar at Acalanes. Although 4 years from now, you'll realize you would have been able to slack off for 4 years of high school and then enroll in a community college and transfer into the UC of your choice.

I, at one time, was considering going to DVC for two years because well lets face it I probably won't get into Berkeley, UCLA, or UCSD, but if I go to DVC I would have a much better chance of getting into those schools. For example I could go to Cal Poly or UC Davis for 4 years or I could transfer to Berkeley or UCLA after two years. Not that there is anything wrong with Cal Poly or Davis but they're not on the same level as berkeley or UCLA. It just all depends on what you value you more I guess. Four years at a very good public school or two years at one of the top schools in the country.

Yeah but then you come to the realization that grad school is pretty crucial and from that four year "decent" college you'll have just a good of chance of getting in based on your GMAT, etc. test scores as the applicant from UCLA or Berkeley.

This this girl in one of my classes she had a 4.0 weighted, 3.3 unweighted GPA with 4 AP classes here senior year and a 1260 SAT and she got rejected by Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD. She got accepted by UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, UC Davis, and Cal Poly but she decided to go to DVC for a year so that she could transfer into her dream school UCLA. Oh and btw she went to Benicia High School. So I guess intelligent people do go to DVC.

UCLA is also my dream school. My sister had the chance to transfer from SB to LA as a junior..and her GPA was only like a 3.2 at SB. So it is possible to transfer!
