Before anyone can recommend some schools for you, could you, let us know the answers to these questions:
What are you interested in studying?
Do you have any preference about which part of the country you want to go to school in?
What size school would you like in terms of the total number of students?
Is a lot of one-to-one interaction with your professors important to you?
Is a school with frats and sororities a plus or a minus for you?
Are you interested in studying abroad?
Are you male or female?
Will you only consider schools that your neighbors have heard of or are you open to finding the best fit for you?

I'm looking for a school in the following states: PA,NJ,OH,NY,MD,DE,CT,MA,DC
Nothing above 20,000 students interests me; I would like something between 1,000 and 15,000.
I'm male.
Don't like the Greek scene.
Wouldn't want to study abroad.
I'm really interested in studying politics, public policy, and environmental studies as an undergrad.
I would prefer a lot of interaction with professors.
Schools with prestige interest me the most, but I realize that there are some not-so-well-known colleges of excellence.
Now, throw them at me...

Give them a try - they will help
If you have trouble linking end after the .com and look for the college search area.

OK, here goes --- look these up on the web sites mentioned, but after you look at the web sites of each school I'd also recommend this site:
www.epinions.com - you can do a search for each college and read reviews for each school written by people who actually go to the school.
These would all be matches with your stats, one or two may be safeties:
College of Wooster (ohio)
Goucher College (Maryland)
Mary Washington College (Virginia)
Drew University (New Jersey) (look under the discussion on this board called the Un-Ivy's for a message from someone who will be going there next year)
Hobart and William Smith (New York)
Dickinson University (PA)
Dennison University (Ohio) (This school has a rep as a frat school but has been moving away from this you will have to check out how far they've moved)
Syracuse university (a larger school)
University of Rochester (ditto)
Hamilton (NY)
Rhodes (Tenn)
Elon(NC)
Skidmore (NY)
These schools might be reach schools for you, but some may also be close-to-match schools:
Kenyon(ohio)
Holy Cross (Mass)
Trinity College (CT)
Connecticut College (CT)
George Washington (very large school) DC
Vassar College (NY)
Colgate (NY)
University of Richmond (VA)

hey...just a quick note: elon is really greek. nuff said. its fun, but its frat parties, mixers, formals, rush, pledge, etc, all year round. just to give you an idea...our greek week dance competition btw all teh sororities is the most highly attended event of the year, it beats out all sporting events, shows etc. not necessarily a bad thing, just something a non greek , such as myself, will have to work to overcome. im still super happy at elon and wouldnt ever consider transferring, but the heavy greek stuff did shock me a bit at first...but i guess its all in what you make of it. elon has so many great benefits, let me know if you want to know more!

There are some websites that actually pick colleges based on your qualities. You choose SAT levels, GPA, type of school, location, size, extra curricular activities etc... Some good ones are, www.princetonreview.com
www.aesmentor.org
www.collegeboard.com
They also provide tons of info on any school you want like: % accepted, average SAT, average GPA, what qualities they most look for in applicants, and much more!
