This may be true but the more likely reason for a lack of response is that most non-Canadian posters are unfamiliar with Canadian colleges, period.

McGil gets a fair amount of respect south of the border but it's not regarded on the same plane as the Ivies. It probably *is* one of the more underrated schools and is great academic bang for the buck.

Beyond that deponent knoweth not.

Well, maybe McGill would be nearly as good as the lower end Ivies, but i don't think the best of Canada is even close to Harvard or Princeton (unless you say medicine, which McGill is ranked internationally third, i think, behind Harvard and some other uni).

Waterloo also beats Harvard's and MIT's best a few times in a few large competitions. Waterloo bregs a lot about it, so you should beable to see a few articles on it. Waterloo isn't too far behind MIT and some of the other top rated schools when it comes to Engineering, i'd say it's right on par.

But the thing is that there's no one school that's as well rounded as the Ivies. On an overall basis, i don't think any Canadian university even comes close to being on par with the Ivies. But in specific fields, there will be a Canadian university that's just as good (Waterloo for engineering, McGill for medince etc... U of T was ranked in the top 30 for business, that's still pretty good i guess).

The lack of reply is due to people not knowing much about Canadian universities.

u of t is a very good university, but like tuannguyen mentioned, none of the canadian universities comes close to any of the ivies.

the Canadian Ivies are definitely on par with US schools or at least US media thinks so. Read this from USNews:

"Rigorous too. But cost is only part of the appeal. Montreal's McGill University, Queen's, and Toronto are often compared to Harvard and Yale in terms of the rigor of the academic experience"

here is the exact link:
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/articles/brief/02cbschools.htm

You can argue with the US news editors, who think the canadian Ivies ARE on par with the Ivy League.
