Try these:
Drew University, Syracuse, Gettysburg, Hamilton, George Washington U., Dickinson, Muhlenberg, Franklin and Marshall, George Mason University, Mary Washington College (both Va. public schools that take fairly large numbers of out-of-state students), Hobart and William Smith
All of these have SAT medians in the 500-650 range, some higher than others.
Of these, the most competitive in terms of admissions will be George Washington, Dickinson, and Franklin and Marshall - so those might be your reaches. All of these schools, however, are quite strong in poli-sci and also good academically.

UNC-Chapel Hill although I question the marketability of a poli sci degree.

Ivy League schools are not good in engineering.

Hey Dream5, we are not talking about engineering or Ivy League schools. Learn to read. By the way, alot of law schools look for people with more diverse degrees like Business, English, Math, or a Romance language. So if you are sure you want to go to law school, you could pick a degree that might interest you more. Just be sure to pick a major you are interested in. Don't pick a major just because you think it will help you get into law school. Also start saving your money now for law school because you will pay out the ass.

i really, really like politics though, even if i don't go to law school, i'd like some kind of career in it.

For Political Science, also look at Georgetown.
And a Political Science degree is marketable just fine, says the man who has one. As with a lot of non-vocational degrees, it depends on what you do and how you present yourself.

Gtown and GW are top 25 and very close to Ivy level. Some options for us better than average non-genius students are: George Mason, UMass, Muhlenberg, UVA, American.
