My cousin is interested in majoring in music production or something dealing with the technical aspects of music. Does anyone know any schools with good programs or that have this major? He wants to go to a school in the south or around Ohio, wants a lot of diversity (he's black), and wants a school that's not very selective. Thanks.

Middle Tennesee State University has an excellent degree program in recording industry management. Their web site is www.mtsu.edu - search for "recording" and you'll find all the information about this program. It really looks exactly like what he may be looking for - and the school is probably big enough (22,000 plus) to have the diversity he's looking for.
He might also check out the following schools:
University of New Haven in CT (has a sound recording program)
Miami University of Florida (has a sound recording degree)
Emerson in Mass. might also be a good choice to look at - not sure if they have a specific sound recording program, but they might.
Also, he might want to contact the music departments of these schools to see if they offer something similiar to what he's interested in:
Oberlin in Ohio
Lawrence University in Wisc
Boston University
Ithaca College (strong in both music and communications so may have something suitable)
