I'm going on a summer school trip to Europe (italy, france, spain) in a few weeks. We all know how popular the US is with Europe at this point, and my friends and I are seriously considering trying to pose as Canadians in certain areas. What I'd like to know is, which area of Canada would most suit this purpose, and/or what colleges. (ie, mainly English rather than French speaking) We might buy some university apparrel to help camouflage our American identities and avoid the stigma associated. Any help is appreciated, though I realize this is a strange request.

Try the U of Manitoba, since it's relatively unknown, no one will ask you stuff like "how's this or that going at the U?". They'll just say "Oh, have fun studying when you get back".
*and it's not unusual at all, Americans have been disguising themselves as Canadians since before the war...

I travel in Europe frequently and will be in France again this summer. I don't think it is necessary to "disguise" yourself as Canadians. I wouldn't walk around wearing the American flag but I have not had any problems or heard of anyone having any problems with being American in Europe - even now. Of course, if you act obnoxious you will be treated that way --- and it won't matter if you are Canadian, American, or Japanese. Just be polite and open to hearing other viewpoints. After all - isn't that what travel is all about?
