Can some help me decide between the two Canadian best engineering schools: UofToronto and UWaterloo...
on one hand, Toronto is my home city and on the other hand, Waterloo has better co-op and its my first choice...

Since ure already living in Toronto, you'd probably know that U of T has a HUGE international student population and its a really fun place to be. Ive visited the university since i have a few friends there and it seems great. Considering academics, Waterloo is certainly more hard on their students and has a higher acceptance rate to some of their programs (math and computer sciencen is what theyre big for i think..) so im guessing their engineering program is top notch too!
good luck

Elite,
Do you have any idea as to how tough is it for Interantional students to get into U of Toronto.

Elite, I doubt that "everyone with just average grades get in"... since i'm from T.O and all my friends applied to UofT, I can assure u that UofT is not the easiest place to get in. The thing is that, it depends on program and campus. UTSC and UTM requires less academics than UofT Downtown. again, even @ Downtown, there are varieties of subjects... it solely depends on program and campus... anyway, which program did u get in?

Timepass,
For international students, try McGill.. its one of the best universities in Canada but it has a huge international population... atleast that's wat i know... and u might also consider Windsor - prolly the easiest for international students...

I got 90% in my 12th grade board exams,so where does that put me,any suggestions?I don't think admissions are open for Mcgill,...or are they?

for Fall '03? nope McGills deadline was ages ago i think. Canadian007, you got a point. But i still say U of T was fairly easy to get into. Ive done my schooling the british way, GCE's. O and A Levels, later gave my SATs and TOEFL exam. I had reasonable grades, not a *good* student, a 270/300 on my toefl and pretty okay EC's (lotsa good tennis) so i think U of T was easy to get into for me.. got in for the Business Administration and Management program (heh heh yaeh it IS easy to get into
). But since im going to America it doesnt matter anymore. though i'd love to go to toronto, got lots of friends there and ive visited the place and its really good.
McGill for me would have been tough to get into, i never applied but i know people who had better grades than me and they didnt get in.

That means Toronto is actually abetter option even in terms of the fee structure and as good an education in comparison to other Us univs. Thanks for the Rankings.

If you get accepted to UofT's engineering science, I'd take that. Second in line is Waterloo's Systems Design. Everything else comes after these two. Both schools have co-op programs (PEY at UofT) and you get certified as a professional engineer.
