Anyone know of colleges where they actually give you points for being asian? I've heard that Lehigh does, but that could be another thing that my mother made up.

That's another thing your mother has made up.

Affirmative action does NOT work in favor of Asians at any school.

Haha, guys. Well, I thought maybe Lehigh because my brother got waitlisted there and he had pretty poor credentials (1200something SAT, only extracurricular was tennis and brief volunteering at a hospital, and almost all academic classes). It must have been a long waitlist :D Not even colleges in the middle of nowhere?
sucks.

I'm sure being asian would help you get into many foreign schools...
Also, I heard it helps for the military academies although I'm not sure...

Among the Ivys, Dartmouth appears to make at least a small effort to recruit highly qualified Asians. Due to its location and programs, Dartmouth does not get as many applications from Asians as other Ivys. My daughter had high test scores and she received an invitation from Dartmouth to send in a brief application for a paid for recruiting trip to tour the campus. The trip is designed for minorities, but they actually include Asians. Since my daughter never applied, I have no knowledge if this initial contact is being followed up by favorable treatment at the time of admission decision.

I am sure that a lot of schools give preference to Asians (just not the really competitive ones). Being Asian, I know of a lot of scholarships for minorities that include Asians as well as African Americans, Hispanics, etc. I am sure that there are a lot of schools, especially in the midwest, that don't have enough Asians and college will give them "points" in order to increase their diversity.

"Asian Americans are the biggest minority in nearly every top 50 national university in the United States. In four they are either an outright majority or a plurality."

My daughter attends Wellesley College, where 25% of the students are Asian American.

UCI (University of CHinese Immigrants?)- 60% Asian
I'm Asian; I DO NOT want to go there. I'd be adding to the problem instead of helping it.
