Discus: Home Schooling and College: Home schooling K-8... The Wonder Years: Calvert School
By Morgantruce (Morgantruce) on Monday, June 02, 2003 - 11:13 am: Edit

There are many ways to home school these days. For our daughter's early education we used the Calvert School curriculum. Located in Baltimore, MD, Calvert is a private day school for Kindergarten through 8th grade. The school dates back to 1906 and is very highly regarded.

What sets it apart from most other private schools is its curriculum which can be purchased and used by home schoolers and others desiring a quality education--outside the classroom or as enrichment for traditionally educated students. For many years, the U.S. government supplied the Calvert correspondance curriculum to foreign service families stationed in remote areas of the world.

We started our girls with the very detailed lesson plans and books provided by Calvert. Within a very short time, they would finish a day's schoolwork with a chorus of, "More school ideas!" It just doesn't get much better than that!
