First-Year Adjustments

Question: What are the most common problems college freshmen face in there first year at college?

The most common problems freshmen (”first-years”) face at college include:

- separation from old friends and family
- dealing responsibly with new levels of personal freedom
- encountering differing points of view (politics, religion, etc.)
- adjusting to a more intense academic work load
- learning to love institutional food
- having to do laundry and room cleaning
- (for athletes) learning to balance sports and academics
- adjusting to dorm life
