college counseling with a guarantee!

ivy league admissionsChoosing a college counselor isn't easy - very few families do this more than once or twice. And with counselors charging $30,000 and up for selective school admissions help, families have to be very careful that the prospects of the student aren't being exaggerated to "close the deal."

Now, College Confidential has the answer to provide families the ultimate in assurance that their student is getting both honest feedback and the best possible help with his or her college admissions strategy. We GUARANTEE that if the student isn't admitted to his or her first choice or second choice school, our counseling fee will be refunded in full.

This program is applicable to all U.S. colleges, including Ivy League schools and colleges of similar selectivity.

Note: Each student candidate must be accepted into the IGAP program for his or her first and second choice schools. If accepted, the student will receive all necessary counseling services (including assistance with applications to additional colleges) until a final determination has been made by the college. Full program details are below.

Terms and Conditions
of
Ivy Guaranteed Admission Program (IGAP)

The IGAP guarantees a full refund of the counseling fee if the college applicant is not admitted into at least one of his/her top two college choices. Admission to either applicant-named school constitutes successful completion of the program. The two schools are specified by the student prior to acceptance into IGAP.

IGAP does not address college affordability but, rather, only college admission. Accordingly, College Confidential does not guarantee that admission to a certain college will result in an adequate financial aid package for the student. The following terms and conditions apply:

1. IGAP is a selective-acceptance program. You must apply to be accepted and state your top two college choices on your application. Not all applicants are accepted into the IGAP program, just as all applicants are not accepted into the nation's Top-25 colleges.

2. The application form is College Confidential's Stats Evaluation, which requires a nonrefundable application fee. The application fee will be credited to program cost if the applicant is accepted. (In the event that the applicant isn't accepted into IGAP, the Stats Evaluation fee can also be applied in full to the cost of a Senior package.) Applicants must acknowledge that all profile information is current and accurate as of its submission date. Inaccurate and/or falsified information may result in cancellation of services and pro-rated forfeiture of fees according to the terms detailed below.

3. The senior-year IGAP application deadlines are: September 30 for Early Decision and Early Action and November 15 for Regular Decision. We do, however, recognize that exceptional circumstances sometimes exist. Therefore, we may extend this deadline for some IGAP applicants, subject to the approval of our acceptance panel. All unique circumstances, if any, should be explained on your IGAP application.

4. Acceptance panel: College Confidential's senior counseling staff evaluates and judges all applications.

5. The applicant's firm first choice and first alternate colleges must be named at time of application. Choice changes may result in cancellation of services and forfeiture of fees at the rate of $150.00 per hour to cover services performed prior to the college-choice change.

6. Program fee of $15,000 must be paid in full before services begin.

7. Fee includes unlimited counseling from the College Confidential menu of services for application management and strategies, essays, and associated tasks for the period from IGAP acceptance through final college admission or denial. This includes deferral and wait list periods. In the case of wait lists, "final denial" refers to either official notification from the college, official enrollment at another college by the student, or reaching September 1 of the wait-list-notification year.

8. In the case that a student enrolled in IGAP is denied admission to BOTH of his or her first two college choices, a full fee refund will be issued by check to the person who paid the original fee, or to his or her designee. Refunds will be issued within 30 days of College Confidential's receipt of the final denial.

9. Periodic progress reports to parents are part of the IGAP regimen. Parents may at any time inquire about the College Confidential methodology to clarify any concerns. However, if no parental concerns are raised during the term of IGAP, then the College Confidential program's counseling services shall be deemed at least satisfactory.

10. College Confidential shall not be held liable for the incompetent or negligent performance of the student's school counselor(s) or teachers, specifically in the area of letters of recommendation. Additionally, College Confidential, at its discretion, may judge an applicant to be negligent in his or her performance of our counseling instructions. Such a determination may result in cancellation of services and forfeiture of fees at the rate of $150.00 per hour to cover services performed prior to the declaration of negligent student performance.

11. As with other College Confidential counseling services, our Services Warranty Disclaimer applies. The sole IGAP warranty is that we will refund the counseling fee if the student, after following our counseling instructions, is not admitted to at least one of his or her specified first and second choice schools.

12. These terms and conditions address normally foreseeable circumstances and events. Events and circumstances occurring that are not covered here will be addressed case-by-case with all goodwill and deference toward the goal of mutually agreeable dispute resolution. College Confidential will make every effort to be fair and reasonable in resolving situations not anticipated by these guidelines.

13. College Confidential reserves the right to request specific documentation of various aspects of the IGAP client's college admission process, such as (but not limited to) copies of the client's official senior-year grade transcript(s) and official denial or waitlist letters from the client's top two IGAP college choices.

14. Concerning waitlisting: If an IGAP client is waitlisted at one of his or her designated IGAP colleges (and not admitted to the other), s/he must follow College Confidential’s official waitlist-reversal procedures and submit documented proof of having executed all designated steps. If the student elects to enroll, instead, at another college, then the IGAP agreement is void and the student forfeits the entire IGAP fee. The purpose of this condition is to exhaust all possible avenues to obtain admission to the IGAP-designated college.

15. IGAP College Picks: For those IGAPplicants who choose Yale University as one of their college picks, a third college must be selected. All other IGAP terms and conditions shall still apply to those three colleges instead of the usual two.

16. While IGAP clients are free to apply to as many colleges as they prefer, College Confidential’s IGAP limits the number of IGAP-counseled applications to 10 (ten). Essay help is limited to application requirements only and does not cover scholarship, honors program, or any other non-application-related writing requirements.

17. International Students: Due to the extremely diverse policies colleges maintain from year to year concerning the admission of international applicants, we cannot accept any non-U.S. citizens into our IGAP service. We realize that there are extraordinary students who are not U.S. citizens, but there are simply too many variables involved in their admission process, especially among the Ivy League and other elite colleges, for us to wager our many hours of work and considerable IGAP fee. We thank all internationals for their understanding of this issue.
