This form is provided so that you can file the initial parts of your application in a timely manner (the earlier the better) without being concerned that you won't have an opportunity to catch us up on what you have been doing during the first half of your senior year. Feel free to use all of it or just part of it to let us know how the year is going.

What's new in your life academically?

Some additional information has come out since I mailed in my Early Action application. First, I have received my evaluation from the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences (PGSS). A copy is attached. Particularly satisfying to me is the comment about my work in the physics laboratory. I have also received confirmation of my membership in the National Honor Society (copy attached).

Our school newspaper, Echo, featured a fellow classmate and me in an interview segment. I have attached a copy because I found it very encouraging to read in Dr. Bergmyer's PGSS evaluation letter that my classmates at the Governor's School appreciated my friendliness and courtesy--two qualities I value highly (as mentioned in the interview article).

What's new in your life in terms of extracurricular interests/activities?

I found a new toy. One of my friends loaned me his multi-track cassette recorder/mixer. It enables me to create my own accompaniments for the songs I've written. The real fun comes in the experimentation. One song I'm working on combines an acoustic guitar foundation track playing a passacaglia bass figure overlaid with the melody and chords on another track. My vocals are mixed in with the guitar tracks. The whole thing has a kind of gentle other-worldliness about it. It's not ready to unleash as Zane Unplugged yet but it's close. I'm negotiating with my parents about getting my own recorder for Christmas. Ideally, I'd like to record an album of my own songs, adding sounds from my saxophone and electronic keyboard.

Anything else?

Not at the moment.
